Working with Trauma with Rima Hawkins – May 16th

May 16 @ 10:00 am - 4:00 pm

£45.00

The Trauma Workshop is designed to provide mental health professionals with a human-centered approach to trauma recovery, emphasising empathy, client autonomy, and the healing power of the therapeutic relationship. This workshop introduces participants to humanistic principles, such as unconditional positive regard, empathy, and genuineness, and how these core concepts can be applied when working with trauma survivors. Attendees will explore how trauma impacts the individual’s sense of self, relationships, and ability to connect with others, and how a humanistic approach can foster healing by restoring a sense of agency and self-worth. Participants will learn to create a therapeutic space where clients feel understood, accepted, and empowered to make meaning of their experiences. The session will address specific trauma-related issues such as dissociation, flashbacks, and triggers, and offer techniques for managing these challenges in therapy. Ethical considerations, including trauma-sensitive boundaries and the need for therapist self-care, will also be discussed. This workshop is ideal for counsellors, psychotherapists, and other mental health professionals interested in integrating humanistic practices into trauma-focused therapy.
