The Counsellor Self-Care Workshop is designed to provide mental health professionals with practical strategies and tools for maintaining their well-being while managing the emotional demands of their work. This workshop focuses on the importance of self-care for therapists, offering techniques to prevent burnout, secondary trauma, and compassion fatigue, all of which can arise from working with clients in distress. Participants will explore various forms of self-care, including physical, emotional, and psychological strategies, and learn how to incorporate them into their daily routine. Topics covered include setting healthy boundaries with clients and developing a balanced work-life schedule. Attendees will also learn how to recognise the signs of burnout and develop early intervention strategies to protect their mental health. The workshop will offer practical exercises such as mindfulness, grounding techniques, and relaxation practices that can be used both in and outside of the therapeutic setting. Additionally, participants will gain insights into the importance of supervision, peer support, and seeking professional help when needed.
